Svein Erik Stave
Svein Erik Stave is a researcher with the Fafo Institute for Applied International Studies in Oslo. He is the author of Monitoring Peace Consolidation: United Nations Practitioners’ Guide to Benchmarking (United Nations 2010), and is involved in a number of ongoing international initiatives to develop methodologies and indicators related to measuring the effects of peacebuilding. Svein Erik Stave studied geography at the University of Oslo, and worked as a statistical advisor at Statistics Norway. His main research interests include the crafting of models and systems to measure complex and ambiguous concepts such as sustainable development, vulnerability, and peacebuilding. Among his current projects are establishing sustainable development indicators for China; measuring the costs of displacement for the World Bank; creating a disaster-risk profile for Ethiopia; and working on a project on how to measure Norway’s contributions to international sustainable development.
