Juan Gabriel Tokatlián
Juan Gabriel Tokatlian is an Argentine sociologist, with an MA and a PhD in International Relations from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washingon, DC. Currently (since April 2012) Director of the Department of Political Science and International Studies at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he has been teaching and researching since 2009, he was formerly Professor at Universidad de San Andrés, Argentina, from 1999 to 2008. Between 1981 and 1998 he lived, taught and researched in Colombia, where he was Associate Professor (1995–1998) at Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogotá, and co-founder (1982) and Director (1987–1994) of the Centro de Estudios Internacionales (CEI) at Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá. He has published various books, essays and op-ed articles on the foreign policies of Argentina and Colombia, on U.S.–Latin American relations, on contemporary global politics, and on drug trafficking, organised crime and violence in the Americas.
