Marco Mezzera is responsible for the Philippines program, where he provides mediation support to the peace process between the government of that country and the National Democratic Front. Prior to joining NOREF, he worked for four years as a research fellow with the Netherlands Institute of International Relations “Clingendael”, where he focused on the political economy of democratisation and governance in post-conflict and fragile contexts. Previously, as a research associate, he spent five years in South-east Asia working for a regional policy research and advocacy organisation.
His geographical expertise covers primarily Pakistan and South-east Asia. He holds an MSc in Development Studies from Wageningen University, the Netherlands and has co-authored four books and written several articles and policy reports.
