Noref and NorLARNet invite you to a breakfast seminar with Dr. Clóvis Brigagão, Director of Centre of the Americas Studies

During the last two decades Brazilian Foreign Policy has undergone significant changes:

- In its main policy issues, based on rooted Brazilian principles of peaceful resolution of international conflicts
- A broadening of its view on who are relevant actors in the foreign policy arena (in addition to the Foreign Ministry)
- Assuming a more 'internationalized' multilateral agenda through its involvement with the G20, BRIC, IBSA as well as with international security issues.

We intend to examine - in a panoramic view- these foreign policy changes and offer a perspective on the development in the immediate future.
Dr. Clóvis Brigagão is Director, Centre of the Americas Studies, and Coordinator of the Group of Analysis on International Conflict Prevention (GAPCon), Institute of Humanities, University Candido Mendes, Rio de Janeiro.

After studying political science at the University of Chicago in the 1970s, he has been working in Brazil and abroad as a researcher (he was Fellow Researcher at PRIO, 1978), professor, policymaker and writer. He has published many books and articles within the fields of Foreign Policy, International Relations, Peace and Security Studies. Dr. Brigagão has also held leading positions within the regional government of Rio de Janeiro. He is now Fellow Researcher at the Nobel Institute (April-June 2009)

The seminar will take place on Thursday 4 June, at 9.00–11.00
Place: Noref / Fafo in Borggata 2b at Grønland, Oslo.

Please register at info@peacebuilding.no no later than 2 June.
