Shahrbanou Tadjbakhsh

Shahrbanou Tadjbakhsh teaches a specialization on human security as part of the Master’s in Public Affairs at Sciences Po in Paris and provides consulting services for the UN in Central Asia and Afghanistan. She edited Rethinking the Liberal Peace: External Models and Local Alternatives (Routledge, 2011) and authored, with Anuradha Chenoy, Human Security: Concepts and Implications (Routledge, 2007) among numerous other publications. She has taught at various universities, has worked for the UNDP in New York and Central Asia and has contributed to the preparation of the National Human Development Reports of a number of countries.

The concept of human security, which made its international debut in the 1994 UNDP Human Development Report ,  adds a people-centered dimension to the traditional security, development and human rights frameworks while locating itself in the area where they converge. more
