Oliver Stuenkel

Oliver Stuenkel is an assistant professor of international relations at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation in São Paulo, where he coordinates the School of History and Social Science. He is also a non-resident fellow at the Global Public Policy Institute in Berlin and a member of the Carnegie Rising Democracies Network. He is the author of the forthcoming IBSA: The Rise of the Global South? (Routledge, 2014) and BRICS and the Future of Global Order (Lexington Books, 2014).

Brazil’s unwillingness to criticise Russia may have less to do with its opinion on Russia’s annexation of Crimea per se and more to do with Brasília’s scepticism of Western attempts to turn Russia into an international pariah. more
